It often happens that I start a coding project and don't finish it for
various reasons. However, I'm not the kind of person who instantly throws away
everything once it turns out the project won't ever be finished.
On this page I collect various functional mutators, weapons, etc. which are
basically working, but couldn't be finished. I still offer you to download them
because they are either fun to use or show, how it works. Interested coders and
players alike might find some useful stuff here.
A UT2003 mutator that adds a HUD camera view to rockets (this includes the
Redeemer and Mercury Missiles) and translocator beacons.
Reason for being dropped: The DrawPortal function doesn't work in OpenGL
rendering mode. This means the missile cam only works on Windows systems
in Direct3D mode.
Reversed CTF basically swaps the flag bases. You have to pick up your own flag,
take it to the enemy base and touch the enemy flag with it to score. This might
sound easier than regular CTF, but with a good base defense it isn't.
Reason for being dropped: No time for finishing the bot AI.
Tournament started out as an alternative to TTM for UT2003 and already provided
several nice features like a HUD clock with configurable position, some brighter
skins and hit sounds.
The approach of UT2004 and the time required to support Anti TCC prevented me
from finishing it, though. You will need the Tournament brightskin packages to
get other skin colors than red and blue.
UTPlus was supposed to become a neat collection of UT2004 goodies for server admins
and players alike. It features hit sounds, bright (not neon!) skins, server-side ping
compensation for Instagib, client-side ping prediction for normal weapons and several
other nice things.
Unfortunately time strikes again and prevents me from finishing this mod. I hope
the source code provides you some helpful examples for your own mods.
This flame thrower for UT is fully functional in network play. It burns
other players (and your self if you're not careful) and can kill them even
after you stopped firing. Of course it doesn't work under water and the flames
can be put out by taking a dive in water or slime. Secondary mode releases a
freezing cloud which doesn't work underwater either.
Needs the EnhancedItems package to work. This weapon was supposed to be part of
the BUF Bonuspack 2 and if you have the BUF Bonuspack 1.1 installed it'll show
up in the config window and can be used correctly from there. Otherwise use
Arena Match or WoRM (or a similar mutator) to get
it into the game.
Reason for being dropped: The models for this weapon were never finished.
This weapon for UT is not to be taken seriously. It fires small steel
marbles that bounce around and do damage based on their velocity.
Needs the EnhancedItems package to work. This weapon was supposed to be part of
the BUF Bonuspack 2 and if you have the BUF Bonuspack 1.1 installed it'll show
up in the config window and can be used correctly from there. Otherwise use
Arena Match or WoRM (or a similar mutator) to get
it into the game.
